On the first episode of The eCom Growth Show, we invited Carlos Alvarez, the Founder and CMO of Wizards of Ecom, to discuss how to grow your ecommerce business.

He is proud to have built an amazing eCom. sellers community. However, he is a serial entrepreneur, not limited to ecommerce, with businesses ranging from Airbnb to bookkeeping and car wash services, and has taken 17 exits in the past 15 years.

Carlos shares the best ways to make money on Amazon:

1. Evaluate

The most important things that help identify the right ecommerce success models for you are:

  • The amount of time you have
  • Money you want to invest
  • Your goals from ecommerce

If you’re looking for a way to quit a job you hate with your ecommerce earnings, that might not be the case. Most people are taking home just 10% of their sales revenue. So, million-dollar sellers are just making a few hundred thousand.

2. Put your soft skills to use

Carlos shares that soft skills are game changers in ecommerce. For instance, if you’re a skilled yoga practitioner, teach courses or take classes, and have an email or social media community, launching a yoga accessories store on Amazon can yield exceptional results.

3. Earn commissions as an Amazon influencer

It’s good to have one partner provide for day-to-day expenses while the other builds a secondary income through ecommerce with no extraordinary soft skills. Carlos suggests joining the Amazon influencer program.

  • Start promoting products you use at home and love, such as blenders, furniture, and air fryers, through 30-60-second videos recorded right from your phone (even faceless videos).
  • You’ll get 4-5% commissions on products bought by watching your video and on products in their cart during checkout.
  • Carlos suggests doing tactical influencer product sourcing using tools like Fluencer Fruit to select products that will yield maximum commissions.

He and his wife have created 600 videos in a year, making $3,000 a month. You only need to resell products through quick, unfiltered, authentic videos.

At the end of the day, doing something consistently is a superpower. You learn every day, build a skill, and improve the output quality.

4. Leverage zero-cost start models
