Welcome to this new episode of The eCom Growth Show. We have with us, Lauren Petrullo, a marketing expert and the Founder and CMO of MongooseMedia. She is an expert at external marketing and acquiring identities before they even reach your ecommerce carts.

While Amazon has a huge footfall of consumers, Shopify and other ecommerce store owners often struggle to bring traffic to their stores and product pages. Today, we’ll help you solve this. Lauren’s proven marketing strategies will benefit Amazon sellers too.

Let’s dive in!

Lauren’s Most Favorite Channels to Drive Traffic to Your Ecommerce Stores

There are multiple channels you can use to drive traffic to your store. Here are the ones Lauren recommends:

  1. Paid media – Facebook Ads, Google Ads, TikTok Ads, Snapchat Ads, Pinterest Ads (cheaper CPM than other social media paid ads)
  2. Organic social media – Facebook and Instagram posts, Reels, Stories, and Pinterest
  3. Organic search engine optimization (SEO) for Bing (don’t neglect it) and Google

How to Dock Block Trash Leads From Getting into Your CRM

While most businesses believe in generating as many leads as they can and nurturing them till the end to make some money, Lauren has a different, stricter take on lead filtering. She believes that leads need to earn a spot in their CRM even before they get in.

That’s because we spend more money based on how many emails we send or the number of CRM contacts we have in our ecosystem with most CRM tools. Then, we pay heavily to our sales teams too.

So, anyone who’s going to get discounts on our products or access to our brand and marketing resources needs to earn a spot — by qualifying as a worthy lead.

To dock block trash leads and only get the best of leads for your Amazon product pages or ecommerce stores, Lauren recommends that you use Meta lead ads with instant forms. These forms help you get to know the identity of your prospects.

You can ask people 15 questions and then filter leads based on each answer they give. This feature helps you stop prospects from moving on to the next question and completing the form if they don’t meet your ideal customer profile (ICP) at any point. It ensures you don’t waste your and anyone else’s time.

To the ones who complete the form and have earned a spot as your ideal customers, you can then offer them a 10% discount, or so. So, you’re not giving the discount to everyone, not letting everyone in.

Pro tip: Don’t ever dare to run Meta Ads from your phone. Always use the Meta Ads Manager on your laptop or desktop. Because if you’re Boosting posts through Apple apps, you’re paying 30% more than what you should.
